Inspired by A Man Asleep by Georges Perec, A Woman Asleep explores contemporary alienation in a world of constant connection and endless information. Following a shifting group of women, the film uses synthetic imagery and the director’s own voice clone to reflect a society that keeps looking, yet no longer truly sees or feels. Based on an semi-autobiographical original script, A Woman Asleep takes an essayistic form, echoing Resnais, Marker, Antonioni, and Akerman as fiction, memory, and reflection blur.
